Separation and Divorce
We help parents create their own unique and practical Parenting Plan. If disputes about the children continue, we offer Parenting Co-ordination and ongoing resolution of co-parenting and access issues. We also work with your lawyers to mediate all of the Separation and Divorce Issues while maintaining a non-adversarial relationship between the parents.
Whether your family is contemplating a substantial change or external forces have made contemplation of change a necessity, we can assist you in maintaining control of the outcomes by communicating reasonably and effectively. We reach timely resolutions for disputes in a cost effective manner.
Parenting Coordination is a dispute resolution process for parents who are suffering from poor communication, heightened emotional states and/or post litigation stress and exhaustion. Usually, Parenting Coordination is commenced after a parenting plan has been signed by the parents. The Parenting Coordinators (PC) assist the parents to implement their parenting plan. The PC must have experience with and knowledge of separation/divorce, high conflict family issues, child development, parenting time schedules, family systems, family violence, power imbalance factors, conflict resolution, arbitration and relevant legislation and family law rules.
The PC acts as a coach, educator, facilitator and arbitrator (when necessary), in helping the parents to disengage, develop mutual respect, and understand the impact of their actions on their children. A primary goal of the Parenting Coordination process is to help parents develop their negotiation, compromise and dispute resolution skills so that they will not need the PC.
Added to the typical day-to-day challenges, the transition through separation and divorce makes the challenges and the responsibilities of parenting incrementally more difficult. Sometimes you need a coach. We assist parents in working together to create their own parenting plans for their children. We have successfully guided parents through the many obstacles which can present themselves as their lives change. We create comprehensive and practical parenting solutions.
Many families suffer irrevocable damage in the aftermath of conflict ridden divorce scenarios. Estranged from one parent or even both, children are lost in the emotional maelstrom of conflict habituated divorce proceedings. Often feeling frightened and disillusioned, children withdraw from one parent or even both, and are reluctant to reestablish emotional links and ties. Unable to enjoy the safety and security of strong parental/child emotional ties, these children can easily become the targets of further parental alienation and emotional abuse.
Our team specializes in assessing and reintegrating these children with parents who have been estranged on either a short–term or long-term basis. Outcomes of course, depend on the degree of estrangement between child and parent and the team works hard to establish a realistic outline for treatment and recovery.
